Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate
Pickup at your hotel or riad in Marrakech around 8:00 AM. The journey begins crossing the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi N'Tichka pass with stops for panoramic views. Continue south on a scenic 6 km route to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Ben Haddou, one of Morocco’s most famous kasbahs, featured in films like Gladiator and The Jewel of the Nile. After lunch, head to Ouarzazate, known as the “Gateway to the Sahara.” Dinner and overnight stay at your selected hotel.
Day 2: Ouarzazate – Draa Valley – Alnif – Merzouga Dunes
After breakfast, travel to the Draa Valley, home to one of Morocco’s longest rivers, dotted with charming adobe kasbahs and Berber villages. After lunch in Alnif, continue for 2 hours to the majestic Merzouga dunes. Enjoy a traditional Moroccan tea before preparing for your camel caravan ride to the heart of the desert. Arrive at the desert camp at sunset for a magical experience. Dinner and overnight stay in a traditional Berber tent under the stars.
Day 3: Merzouga – Khamlia – Nomadic Village – Merzouga
Wake up early to admire the sunrise over the dunes. Return by camel to the lodge for breakfast. Explore the Erg Chebbi dunes, over 250 meters high, following tracks of the historic Paris-Dakar rally. Visit a nomadic settlement to learn about local traditions, then stop in Khamlia, a village of Malian origin, to enjoy Gnawa music over tea. Afternoon free for climbing the dunes or enjoying a romantic desert sunset. Dinner followed by a traditional Berber music and drum show. Overnight at your selected accommodation.
Day 4: Merzouga – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley
Depart for Rissani and Erfoud, passing through the lush oases of Touroug and Tinjdad.
